Ahead of the 2017 season, Pär Hansson completed his overseas adventure to return to Helsingborgs IF where he participated and helped the team back to the Allsvenskan. But in September 2018, the goalkeeper injured his neck - which now forces him to quit his career.

- There is no decision that has emerged. This is not a decision I wanted to make so I have been shooting at it all the time, but together with doctors who have been honest about not having such symptoms, this decision has unfortunately become a reality. I had plans to play football for a few more years. I wanted to come home and help HIF to the Allsvenskan, which I am grateful that I got to do, but I had intended to play in the Allsvenskan for a couple of years before I would decide to quit myself, Hansson says in a press release.

- I have done everything I can and feel a little that there is nothing more to do and the most important thing for me now is to be able to live a normal life. Obviously, it's really cool, I'd be lying if I said something else. I'm grateful and proud of everything I've been through.

The 33-year-old has won both the Swedish Cup and SM gold with HIF and made six appearances in the national team.

Hansson will be thanked in connection with the home game against Östersund on 30 August.
