The match between Young Ajax and NEC in the Kitchen Champion Division did not produce a winner on Monday. The spectacle piece ended in 3-3. Excelsior is still without points after two rounds of play.
In Amsterdam, Young Ajax seemed to be on its way to victory against NEC. The team of coach Mitchell van der Gaag led 3-2 and in the extra time Victor Jensen was able to make the decision from a penalty.
The Danish midfielder missed, however, and NEC turned on again. After a number of chances, it was Josef Kvída who equalized in the final seconds. Both teams took the first point of the season.
Striker Lassina Traoré gave Young Ajax an early lead, but at halftime it was 1-2 due to goals from Sven Braken and Anthony Musaba. In the second half, Jensen and Ryan Gravenberch scored for the home team, but that wasn't enough for the win.
Excelsior beats Jong AZ
In Wijdewormer Excelsior was 1-2 strong for Young AZ. After more than an hour it was 0-2 thanks to Thomas Verhaar and Jeffry Fortes, after which Albert Gudmundsson retracted slightly from a penalty.
Excelsior, which relegated from the Eredivisie last season via the after-competition, had already started the new season last week with a 2-0 win over Jong FC Utrecht.
After the first two rounds of play in the Kitchen Champion Division, four clubs are still without points. Based on the goal difference, the top four is formed by successively NAC Breda, FC Eindhoven, De Graafschap and Excelsior.
Young FC Utrecht-TOP Oss finished in 2-1. Halfway through, the home team was seated on roses by hits from Christopher Mamengi and Odysseus Velanas, and after half time Cas Peters made things exciting.
The other games from the second round were already scheduled for Friday. Next Friday the third game round is waiting.
