On Sunday (local time), the Corinthians women's team set the world record of successive victories at the highest level.
The formation from São Paulo, Brazil, won the 27th consecutive victory (all competitions) against Ferroviaria on Sunday, equaling the performance of The New Saints from Wales, who recorded their 27th consecutive victory in December 2016.
The New Saints improved the record for decades in the name of Ajax. The team from Amsterdam booked 26 consecutive victories in the 1971/1972 season, with players such as Johan Cruijff and Piet Keizer in the selection.
The Scottish club East Kilbride also improved that number, but that performance was not recognized by Guinness World Records. East Kilbride came out in the fifth class at that time and not at the highest level.
The women of Corinthians can definitely write the record in their name if they beat Sao José on Wednesday. In the 27 games won, the league-leader scored 95 times and the team collected only eight hits.
