After a nice season start, with a Swedish record (4.76) in Rome in early June, Angelica Bengtsson has been much tougher lately.

Two weeks ago, she stopped at 4.46 in the Team Championships, which was her worst result since the early season premiere in mid-May.

Tremble on the bar

Today, at the Diamond League competition in Birmingham, things got a little better. But not much.

She passed 4.40 in the second attempt, and 4.55 - with a lot of tricks on the bar - in the third.

Tough for Meijer

But there it stopped. At 4.65, there were three crosses in the minutes, and only one of the attempts (the other) was halfway.

However, she is quite apologetic for the extremely difficult weather conditions. The wind was very windy, which the other Swede in the competition (Michaela Meijer) experienced.

She stopped, just like Bengtsson, at 4.55. When she was about to make her third attempt, it blew up so much that she didn't even have the chance to start her attempt before the minute the jumpers got to carry out their jump on had expired.

Meijer finally finished fifth in the competition, and Bengtsson seven. Thus, Bengtsson gets two points in the Diamond League summary, and looks to qualify for the Diamond League final.

The competition is ongoing.
