Wout Weghorst helped VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday in the first round of the Bundesliga. The striker scored a goal in the home match won by 2-0 against PhD student 1. FC Köln.
After an hour of play, Weghorst was responsible for the 2-0. After a pass from Xaver Schlager, he got the ball a bit happy and then shot in the far corner at the penalty spot.
Wolfsburg had taken the lead early on by a goal from Maximilian Arnold and saw Köln, where Kingsley Ehizibue made his debut, coming back to 2-1 in the injury time of the second half thanks to a goal by Simon Terodde.
Jeffrey Bruma did not belong to the Wolfsburg competition selection. The defender did participate in a number of exhibition games during the preparation, including against PSV (0-2 win).

Bosz wins with Leverkusen
Peter Bosz also had a good start to the competition with Bayer Leverkusen. 'Die Werkself' narrowly won in front of the audience of another PhD student in a show piece, SC Paderborn 07: 3-2.
Leverkusen lost twice a lead in the first 25 minutes (Leon Bailey 1-0, Sven Michel 1-1 and Kai Havertz 2-1, Streli Mamba 2-2), but secured the win after the break with 3- 2 from Kevin Volland.
Daley Sinkgraven did not belong to the selection of Leverkusen. The midfielder, who has been used mainly as a left back in recent years, made the switch from Ajax this summer, where he collaborated with Bosz in the past.

Dortmund benefits from Bayern slip
Borussia Dortmund benefited from the Bayern Munich slip on Saturday. After a dramatic start in their own home, 'Der Borussen' won well over FC Augsburg: 5-1.
Dortmund fell behind within a minute due to a goal from Florian Niederlechner, but then pulled the longest thanks to hits from Paco Alcacer (twice), Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Julian Brandt.
Defending champion Bayern did not get any further than a 2-2 draw on Friday against Hertha BSC and also lost 0-2 to Dortmund two weeks ago, which was second last season in the battle for the German Supercup.
On Saturday there were also victories for SC Freiburg (3-0 against the 1. FSV Mainz 05 by Jean-Paul Boëtius and debutant Jeremiah St. Juste) and Fortuna Düsseldorf (1-3 against Werder Bremen by Davy Klaassen).
