Alexander Isak has impressed during the preseason for his new Spanish team, Real Sociedad. There were four goals in five training matches, and with the good statistics, many probably thought that the 19-year-old should start from the start when the team tonight made the La Liga premiere against Valencia.

But that did not happen. Coach Imanol Alguacils chose instead to play with 27-year-old Willian José from the start.

Replaced Januzaj

However, Isaac was not without playing time. In match minute 71, at a 0-1 draw, he had to jump in instead of former Manchester United player Adnan Januzaj.

And he made a good jump. In the 89th minute he had been penalized when he was brutally tackled by a Valencia defender, who came in the back and used his arms when Isak took the ball down. But despite the protests of the green-clad Sociedad players, the referee chose to be free.

Penalty

However, penalty was given to Valencia in the third extra minute when Denis Tjerysjev, apparently without any major contact from the Sociedad player, fell into the penalty area. Forward Kevin Gameiro stepped - which made 1-0 a quarter into the second half - but he shot high over.

In the eighth (!) Extra minute, Isak was again at the center of the events when, after a fine solo performance, he was demolished just outside the penalty area and arranged a free kick. The free kick was then covered by the Valencia wall, where a player jumped up and got the ball on his arm. The referee then pointed to the penalty spot, and forward Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up and put safely 1-1 - and the match was over.
