A 24-year-old Shotaro Shiroyama marked a new record of 8 meters and 40 centimeters in a long jump on land.

The Japanese record so far is 8 meters 25 centimeters marked by Masaki Morinaga in 1992, and at the tournament held in Fukui City, the first time for the first time in 27 years by Yuki Hashioka from Nihon University I marked 8 meters and 32 centimeters.

The third time after that, Shiroyama jumped 8 meters and 40 centimeters in favorable conditions with a tailwind of 1.5 meters and updated the record.
