After the players in the women's national team in ice hockey decided that all national team players boycotted the national team, it was then silent for a day from the players' union SICO and the union.

On Friday morning, SICO in a newsletter provided more detailed reasons for the boycott:

"The situation is based on the players' financial relationship with SIF (Swedish Ice Hockey Association), but also in general the handling of the Women's Crowns," they write.

They then list a number of shortcomings and reasons for the boycott:

  • The basic reason is that there is no agreement between SIF and the players in Damkronorna that regulate compensation, bonuses and insurance. Such an agreement exists for the men of Tre Kronor.
  • The women players are aware that they do not generate as much money for the union as the men's players do. On the other hand, it is questioned why SIF spends so much money on insurance fees for NHL players. This cost cannot be compared for the Women's Crowns.
  • The women players also think that the response from the union is bad and that you feel like an ok. "When the union's top official (Tommy Boustedt) once visited a women's championship, he did not bother to meet the players."
  • One wonders where the money from SHL has taken the road as the union can not even pay lost work income to the players in the national team. The argument that the union treats women and men equally does not hold, as the women's players go back at national team meetings and the men receive their salary from their club team.
  • Travel Conditions. SICO states that the women's crowns usually travel so that they do not have time to acclimatize, and that it is difficult to perform.
  • Material. The women's crowns have the same material contract as the junior and boy's teams, in addition to models that do not fit women's players. The players use work tools that you do not feel safe with and sizes that do not fit.
  • The lack of a development plan. There is a lack of both a long-term and a short-term one

SVT Sport has been in contact with the union captain Ylva Martinsen, but she refers completely to the union leadership and Tommy Boustedt, who does not respond.
