“He lost his mind”

Conor McGregor has become a defendant in the next scandal and is at risk of being back in the dock. This time, he is suspected of assaulting a person in one of Dublin's drinking establishments. A video appeared on the network in which a person very similar to the ex-UFC champion in two weight categories strikes an elderly man in the face, after which he is taken away from the scene by force.

It is noteworthy that the incident itself occurred in April 2019, but the video appeared on the network only in August. According to media reports, McGregor went to one of the bars in the Irish capital and decided to arrange an impromptu promotion of his whiskey brand, which he has been actively promoting over the past year. It is noted that Conor invited all visitors to the pub to drink a strong drink at his expense, but one of the guests refused, and the fighter hit him in the face.

Subsequently, it turned out that in April there really was an attack in the pub. The Irish police said they were working to clarify the circumstances of the case.

“Garda is conducting an investigation into the attack on April 6, 2019, in a pub located in Drimn. The process is ongoing, at the moment there has not been a single arrest, ”the Irish police MMAJunkie quotes.

The next incident involving McGregor was not spared in the UFC. So, the incident was commented by President Dana White, who extremely negatively assessed the athlete's behavior.

“When you deal with fighters who fight to earn a living, something always happens. Look at the greatest - at Mike Tyson. What did he do at the peak. Every time when it comes to a professional fighter and lots of money, get ready for a disaster, ”said the head of the Absolute Fighting Championship.

White recalled other controversial episodes involving McGregor. According to the functionary, it is high time for the Irishman to draw conclusions and continue to behave differently.

“In the end, you see how Conor comes to a bus incident in New York and so on. You see how he knocked out the phone from the guy who rented it in Miami. How much money Conor McGregor needs to lose before he realizes that “it’s already enough, it's time to tie it up,” White said.

According to the head of the UFC, such behavior can adversely affect the future athlete.

“The wildest thing is that Conor McGregor is not a dumb guy at all. He secured himself financially, made some very successful business decisions and made a ton of money. He has his own insanely profitable whiskey production, and he will earn even more. He became a father. At some point, you just need to tell yourself: “Stop beating people when they can be brought to justice for this. You only need to do this in the ring, ”White concluded.

Khabib Nurmagomedov also did not remain aloof from the discussion and once again criticized McGregor's behavior.

“For people like him, a place in prison. I tell you, this guy has no respect. This is very bad for sports. He is doing something good for him, but right now he has lost his mind. This is crazy, ”Nurmagomedova quotes TMZ.

According to him, the Irish authorities should seriously punish McGregor.

“I was very pissed at what is shown in the video. I don’t understand how you can hit an old man. Today he is beating up elderly people, and what will happen tomorrow? ”The Russian asks.

At the same time, the former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is not sure that the reason for McGregor's attack on a man lies in his refusal to miss a glass of whiskey. According to him, the resentment of the Irishman could have been caused by other circumstances.

“It was crazy, but who knows what this man told him? I’m sure some words were said. McGregor will not hit people in the face for no reason, ”Pettis said.

Bus attack and robbery charges

It is worth noting that over the past year and a half, McGregor has been not the first time to become involved in various kinds of scandals. So, the loudest of them occurred a year before the incident in the pub. In April 2018, an Irishman, in the company of Artyom Lobov and his other friends, attacked a bus carrying Khabib Nurmagomedov and other UFC fighters. They threw objects at the vehicle with improvised items, and Conor himself broke the glass, as a result of which several athletes were injured.

McGregor managed to leave the scene of the crime, but was later arrested by law enforcement officers. True, he never went to jail. The athlete was released on bail of $ 50 thousand and was banned from leaving the United States. However, later these restrictions were lifted.

Subsequently, McGregor appeared in court and pleaded guilty to the attack on the bus. However, he managed to escape a real prison term: he escaped with five days of community service and attending anger management courses.

The incident in the parking lot of the Barclays Arena was one of the most discussed mixed martial arts in history, and even the head of UFC Dana White expressed his disgust for the behavior of McGregor. And this despite the fact that throughout the Irish career in the American promotion, he spoke about him only positively.

Apparently, the spring of 2019 was not the easiest period in life for McGregor. A month before the events in the pub, he was charged with robbery and disorderly conduct. According to police, the Irishman was leaving the hotel in Miami when a fan from England, Ahmed Abdirzak, saw him and asked for a picture. However, this request was not liked by Conor, who grabbed the phone from him and trampled it, after which he took the means of communication with himself.

Initially, the ex-UFC champion was threatened with up to 20 years in prison, but during the investigation, the police retrained the charges against the fighter, and in May completely dropped all charges from him. According to the Miami Herald, Abdirzak concluded a pre-trial agreement with McGregor.
