The head of the General Sports Federation in Syria, Mowaffak Juma, confirmed the survival of the Syrian national team coach Fajr Ibrahim in his position in the technical leadership of the Eagles Qassioun, despite the poor performance and early farewell to Syrians from the West Asian Championship.

Jumaa said in press statements to the Syrian media that: "The meeting with coach Fajr Ibrahim came to evaluate the previous stage, and not to discuss his resignation, especially since we did not put forward the idea of resignation or dismissal of the coach."

He added: "The team will travel after two weeks for the preliminaries of the World Cup, how we will dismiss the coach, and all the talk that has been circulating recently about another coach is not true.

On the performance of the Syrian team in the West Asian Championship, Juma said: "Certainly no one is satisfied with the loss and exit from the group stage, but the coach has its reasons."

The Syrian team finished last in their group in the competition of the West Asian Championship in Iraq, after the Eagles of Kassioun only scored two points, which raised the discontent of the Syrian sports street, which demanded changes not only in the technical staff of the team, but the dismissal of the Union Football also, especially since the Syrian players received a severe loss to Palestine, the result of "4-3", which came to complement the loss to Lebanon, the result of "1-2", and content with a positive draw against both Iraq and Yemen, and the same result "1-1".
