Feyenoord coach Jaap Stam hopes that his team does not think too easily about the return in the preliminary rounds of the Europa League against Dinamo Tbilisi. The team from Rotterdam defends a 4-0 lead in the empty stadium of the Georgians.

According to the former international, his team must be sharp from the first whistle. "We cannot let ourselves be taken by surprise in the beginning," he warned at the press conference on Wednesday. "There is no question of laziness."

Feyenoord had a great deal of dominance last week, but that was only converted into goals in the final phase. By three hits in the last ten minutes the score was increased from 1-0 to 4-0.

"I already stated last week after the race that this return is very important," Stam said. "The lead is great, but we also want to achieve a good result here. The boys are keen on that."

Summary Feyenoord-Dinamo Tbilisi (4-0)

"Empty stadium creates a strange atmosphere"

That must happen in an almost empty Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena. The home team cannot let its own spectators in, because the club has been punished by UEFA for racism. Feyenoord can accommodate 140 fans.

Stam has also played in an empty stadium. "That created a strange atmosphere, that will stay with you."
He does not appeal to a number of permanent staff in the Georgian capital, including Leroy Fer and Yassin Ayoub.

Fer is not yet completely fit, after he closed the previous season with an injury. "We are also looking at the longer term and that is why it was not wise to take it now."

If Feyenoord holds out, it will hit the Swedish IFK Norrköping or the Israeli Hapoel Beer Sheva in the fourth and final round. The first match between those two clubs in Sweden ended last week in a 1-1 draw.
