After a shocker in the semi-finals, 20-19 against France, Sweden's U17 women were in the European final against Hungary.

The opponents, led by the cog Petra Koronczai, however, shattered the blue-yellow dreams of gold.

"Magyarország" - Hungarian for Hungary - roared at the stands and the players responded with a 13-9 lead at halftime.

By the time the Slovenian refereeing team blew the game, Hungary had won by 28-24. Sweden was a beaten team.

"If you play the European Championship final, it is gold that applies," said team captain Hanna Wedenby to the Handball Ball channel before the match.

Now it was not so. Sweden, which fell 26-22 against just Hungary in the group stage, returns home from Slovenia with silver medals.

The champions Hungary are thus the only team that defeated Sweden in the European Championship and also twice.
