Rafael Nadal has qualified for the final of the Masters tournament in Montreal in the night from Saturday to Sunday without playing. Serena Williams reached the final at the Toronto WTA tournament.
Top favorite Nadal should have played in the semi-finals on the Canadian hard court against Gaël Monfils, but the Frenchman withdrew due to an ankle injury.

Nadal, currently number two in the world behind Novak Djokovic, is going for his fourth overall win in Canada. He won the tournament in 2005, 2008, 2013 and last year.
In the doubles in Montreal there was success for Robin Haase and Wesley Koolhof. The Dutch duo reached the final by setting aside the couple Rohan Bopanna / Denis Shapovalov with 7-6 (3) and 7-6 (7).

Williams beats Bouzková
In Toronto, 23-time Grand Slam winner Williams was the Czech Marie Bouzková the boss in the semi-final battle. After a rough start it became 1-6, 6-3 and 6-3.
37-year-old Williams, who faced Naomi Osaka in the previous round for the first time since her lost US Open final last year, will meet Bianca Andreescu, the world's number 27 in the final.
