LONDON (Reuters) - Liverpool have issued a stern warning to all their English Premier League rivals and confirmed they would be a strong contender for the title this season after opening a 4-1 win over Norwich City on Friday in the first round of Premier League.

Liverpool defender Grant Hanley scored the first goal in the seventh minute, Salah added the second in the 19th minute, before making the third goal scored by Virgil van Dijk in the 28th minute, and Devock Origi added the fourth in the 42nd minute.

Norwich City's only goal came in the 64th minute through Timo Bucky.

Reds goalkeeper Alison Becker was injured in the 36th minute, leaving the pitch on the pitch with new goalkeeper Adrian in his place.

Liverpool have scored their first three points in the league this season, while Norwich City remain on points.

Liverpool failed to win the FA Shield last Sunday after losing on penalties (4-5) to Manchester City after a 1-1 draw.

The Reds finished second in the Premier League last season with 97 points behind champions Manchester City (98), but were crowned Champions League champions last season after beating Tottenham 2-0 in the final.

Norwich City were crowned champions last season with 57 points.
