Bayern Munich have been reportedly chasing German star Leroy Sané all summer. During a period, he seemed, according to several media, almost complete.

But President Karl-Heinz Rummenigge probably put the coffee in his throat today when the gloomy message came. According to Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, Leroy Sané, who was injured in the Liverpool Shield meeting last week, will be away for seven months.

It is a ligament in the knee that Sané has injured. He will undergo surgery next week.

- In three seasons we have had three injuries to knee ligaments. He is young and hopefully will recover well after surgery next week. Everyone will help him, he will feel alone, and we will help him feel as comfortable as possible, Guardiola said at today's press conference.

"Always said he is our player"

- This is incredibly bad news. I don't know how long he'll be gone. Normally, in this type of injury, he is back around February or March.

Sané's contract expires in 2021. He has been offered a new contract but has not signed.

- I don't think he'll leave. I've always said he's our player.
