Borussia Dortmund reduced the number of players with the departure of two yesterday, as striker Maximilian Philip moved to Dynamo Moscow, and Shinji Kagawa moved to Real Zaragoza.
"It was great for me to play for Borussia Dortmund," Dortmund quoted Philip as saying on social media.
The 25-year-old joined Dortmund in 2017 from Freiburg but did not have the chance to participate regularly in the starting line-up.
Dortmund, runners-up to Bundesliga champions, allowed Philippe to leave, while the club spent big sums to boost their squad during the transfer market.
Dynamo Moscow have made a modest start to the new season and are in the middle of the table after four stages.
Dynamo Moscow play their next league match against defending champions Zenit St Petersburg on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Japanese finished his second term in Dortmund by moving to second division rivals Real Zaragoza on a two-year contract.
Kagawa made a few appearances for Dortmund last season, before loaning him to Besiktas after leaving Lucien Favre, Dortmund coach. Kagawa returned to Dortmund from Manchester United in 2014, where he won the Premier League title in 2013. It was his third consecutive domestic title after winning the Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012. The club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzecke and sports director Michael Zork praised Kagawa as "an example of professionalism and a wonderful person. Dortmund will always be his second home and will have many friends."
Kagawa has made 97 international appearances for Japan, won the Asian Cup in 2011 and twice played for the World Cup.
