Madrid - Spanish club Real Madrid has offered 120 million euros, plus Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, to sign Brazilian Neymar from Paris St Germain, the Catalan daily Sport reported on Monday.

The paper said that the club's president, Florentino Perez, did everything necessary, and is waiting for the approval of Neymar, former player of the rivals Barcelona, to make the deal.

"He called the player, offering him a contract for five seasons, and the same salary he receives with Paris Saint-Germain."

Neymar joined PSG in the summer of 2017, for a world record € 222 million, after paying the penalty clause that linked him to Barcelona.

The name of the player, who has suffered many injuries in the past seasons, has been linked to a return to his former club, before speculation subsided in the past few days.

The 27-year-old Neymar started his career with Santos until 2013, when he moved to Barcelona and formed a striking trio with Argentine Lionel Messi and Uruguayan Luis Suarez (MSN), and also carried Brazil in 97 caps with 60 goals.

Real Madrid have signed big deals this summer, most notably the recruitment of Belgian star Eden Hazar from Chelsea as part of the reconstruction of the French coach, Zinedine Zidane, after a disappointing season locally and continental.

• Perez offered the Brazilian star the same salary he earns in Paris Saint-Germain.
