In figure skating, it's time to test hire. These days, juniors are demonstrating their new programs at the Moscow team base of the Russian team in Novogorsk.

Despite the fact that a few more days remain until the end of the rental, coaches, experts and athletes themselves are already starting to summarize the first results of the work done during the off-season. So, Alexander Kuznetsov, a technical specialist at the International Union of Skaters (ISU), admitted that he was pleasantly surprised by the performances of the Russians. According to him, even adult colleagues can envy the level of young skaters.

“Of course, the girls were more impressed. The performance of some juniors I perceive as the performance of a dream. When I was a coach, it seemed to me that such a level of technical and choreographic training was not available, but now I see it live. They show skating of the future, something that will be a trend in the next four to eight years, ”said Kuznetsov in an interview with the ISU Youtube channel.

The well-known trainer Tatyana Tarasova expressed a similar position. She noted that in the upcoming season at the junior competitions Russia will have a competitive team.

“In general, I liked what I saw - there were discoveries, we know these children. In general, I want to say that these rentals, meetings of athletes, coaches and specialists, all this is a very important work that the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) does. Many of us have come a long way in this sport, someone has been in it for more than 50 years, ”TASSA quoted TASS.

“I performed the quadruple jump calmly - like a triple”

The attention of the majority of those present was traditionally riveted to the students of Eteri Tutberidze, since it is precisely these skaters who in the near future will not only be able to strengthen the composition of the Russian team, but also compete for the highest places in international competitions.

On the eve of the test rentals, 13-year-old Kamila Valieva, who is just preparing to make her debut at the junior Grand Prix stages, said she intends to include four sheepskin coats and salchows, as well as a triple axel in the free program.

If the second and third elements are still at the operating stage, then the skater cleanly performed the first jump in Novogorsk, thereby declaring herself to be one of the most promising students of Tutberidze.

“I performed it calmly - like a triple. I only thought about how to get on the jump. Coaches have praised, but said that leaving the sheepskin coat was not very. In the free program I was less nervous than in the short one yesterday, ”RIA Novosti quoted Valieva as saying.

After the performance of juniors, Tutberidze many again paid tribute to the mentor, who from year to year brings up new generations of competitive skaters. Athletes themselves also highly appreciate her contribution to their development.

“I've been working with Eteri Georgievna for the fourth season. She is a great person. Her team is professionals, I have not seen such figure skating fans yet. She works seven days a week and requires everyone to give all the best for 100%, ”said 15-year-old Yegor Rukhin.

In the offseason, the Tutberidze group was replenished with the bronze medalist of the final of the junior Grand Prix Alena Kanysheva. Like any athlete, she dreams of getting to the Olympics, but fears that the path to Tokyo may be closed due to age restrictions. The fact is that, in accordance with the rules, for participation in competitions on July 1, 2021, the skater must be 15 years old.

“Every day, I can say, I recount whether I get there or not. Opinions are different. Age raise, do not raise? It’s very difficult to understand so far, but I hope to go there, getting ready to ride the Olympics, ”Kanysheva admitted on the air of Channel One.

“All the boys from our group tried to be on a par with Shoma Uno”

At one of the summer camps, the silver medalist of the Pyeongchang Olympic Games Syoma Uno joined the Tutberidze group. Despite the fact that the eminent Japanese stayed in Moscow for only a few weeks, his young colleagues were impressed by his hard work. According to the winner of the Russian championship among juniors Daniil Samsonov, for many of them he became a real example.

“Syoma didn’t talk to us much, because he doesn’t know English very well. With him were translators who transmitted to him the comments of the trainers about his mistakes. And so all the boys from our group tried to be on a par with him and keep up. He especially likes the fact that he works without stopping and flies literally back and forth. He has a special flip technique - without "triples", he immediately goes forward and jumps. I tried to adopt from him all the strong qualities, I hope it worked out, ”Sport Express quoted Samsonov as saying.

A funny episode occurred after the rental student Alexei Mishin Gleb Lutfullin. Speaking with a free program, he purely performed the quadruple salchow, triple axel and cascade of triple axels and sheepskin coats. The coach was so pleased with the skater that he jokingly tried to strangle him.

Test runs of the Russian national team will be held in early September in the Moscow Luzhniki Stadium. They will be attended by Alina Zagitova, Evgenia Medvedeva, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Sofia Samodurova, sports pair Evgeny Tarasova - Vladimir Morozov, as well as dance duets Victoria Sinitsina - Nikita Katsalapov and Alexander Stepanova - Ivan Bukin.
