The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has responded to Manchester City coach's rationale for excluding star striker Riad Mehrez from Sunday's FA Cup tie against Liverpool.

Guardiola said that Muhrez had taken medications in the past period could not know the details of the Manchester City, which prompted him to decide to exclude the player for fear of falling in the test of doping.

Guardiola's comments sparked controversy, and many questioned the role of medical staff of the Algerian national team and responsibility for the safety of the player who led the team of warriors to win the African Nations Cup, which was held recently in Egypt.

However, the Algerian federation broke its silence on Wednesday. The BBC quoted him as confirming that Mehrez took these drugs after his participation with the Algerian national team, which means that the player was under the responsibility of his club.

According to media reports in Algeria, Mehrez underwent minor eye surgery after which he took the drugs that raised the concerns of the medical staff of Manchester City.

Sources predicted that Mehrez will miss Manchester City's first game in the Premier League against West Ham on Saturday because of the same problem and the lack of time to disappear the effects of the drugs he took from the samples that may be asked for tests in the detection of doping.
