Nara Todaiji Big Buddha's Wipe in front of Obon August 7th 10:49

In front of the tray, a “wipe” was performed at Todaiji Temple in Nara to remove the dust accumulated in the Great Buddha.

A “wipe wipe” is held on August 7 every year to have the Great Buddha greet the Bon Festival with a beautiful figure.

On the 7th, priests chanted a sutra at 7 o'clock in the morning and operated a law that pulled out the soul before touching the Great Buddha.

After this, the monks and believers went up to the big Buddha, which was about 15 meters high, and used a broom and a chisel to remove dust. Because the face and chest of the Great Buddha were out of reach, the believers got into the basket hung from the top of the Great Buddha Hall and worked.

About 180 people participated in the wiping, and not only the Great Buddha but also the surrounding decorations were cleaned.

Visiting worshipers watched the Great Buddha being cleaned once a year by taking pictures.

A female university student who came from Osaka said, “I'm interested because I'm studying cultural assets at the university. I feel it. "
