After just over two months, it is now clear that Tunisian Esperance is the African Champions League champion in football. The African Football Federation's CAF Disciplinary Committee considered that opponent Wydad from Morocco was obliged to leave the second final match, with 30 minutes remaining.

In the first final match in Casablanca, it was 1-1 and in the return on May 31 in Radès, Esperance had 1-0 when Wydad thought they were acknowledged in the 59th minute. However, the judge dismissed the case despite protests from Wydad who wanted the VAR system to be used. But it didn't work.

Then the Moroccan team chose to leave the match.

Fines for both teams

Five days later, CAF's executive committee said the second match would be replayed on neutral ground. But both teams appealed the decision to the Sports Arbitration Court Cas. It sent the decision back to the CAF Disciplinary Committee, which it considered was the right authority to make the decision.

Both teams were also fined. Wydad will pay about SEK 335,000 for leaving the match and for supporters lit Bengals. Esperance will pay almost half a million SEK for supporters lit Bengals and threw things.
