The golfer, who was part of the victorious Ryder Cup European team last year, sexually assaulted a female passenger on a flight to London.

Danish golf star Thorbjorn Olesen was suspended from the European Tour after the announcement of the sexual assault charges against him. According to a spokesman for the European tournament, Thorbjorn Olesen, who was part of the victorious European team of the 2018 edition of the Ryder Cup, "was suspended pending the results of the judicial investigation".

The 29-year-old is suspected of sexually assaulting a female passenger on a flight to London a week ago. Thorbjorn Olesen is also being prosecuted for being drunk and for his aggressive and inappropriate behavior during the same flight. The organizers did not wish to comment further on this case under investigation.

"No Comment" of the player

The alleged incidents occurred last week as Olsen returned from Memphis, where he had just participated in the St. Jude Invitational, on a British Airways flight. Arrested on arrival at Heathrow Airport in London, he was released by the authorities during the investigation.

For his part, the golfer's lawyer issued a statement saying that his client "cooperated fully with the investigators, but unfortunately the case is still ongoing, he would not make more comment for the moment." The player, who has won the European Tour 5 times, will be presented to a judge on 21 August in London.
