At the end of a long legal battle after a final in a fantastic scenario, the Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca lost the African Champions League.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) declared "the loser of the final return by default" the Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca, implicitly giving the title of the African Champions League to Esperance Tunis, Wednesday, at the end of a long battle of procedure.

The winning club ... also sanctioned

Moroccans are punished for abandoning the return match on May 31 to protest a failure of the video arbitration audience (VAR), convinced that it could have validated a goal denied by the referee who would have returned to 1-1, first leg score. They also get $ 20,000 fine (17,850 euros) for this abandonment of the land and 15,000 dollars (13,387 euros) for the use of smoke by its supporters.

Although the CAF Disciplinary Panel explicitly sanctions Wydad Casablanca, it does not stipulate in its judgment that Esperance Tunis is the winner of the title. The EST is even sanctioned with $ 50,000 for use of smoke, two closed-door in-laws for the same reasons and its president, Mohamed Meddeb, is personally punished $ 20,000 for his unsporting behavior against his counterpart at CAF.
