Galatasaray seized the Turkish Super Cup on Wednesday. The team won with Ryan Babel in the base with 1-0 against Akhisar Belediyespor.
Younes Belhanda was the creator of the only goal in the Eryaman Stadium in Ankara just before the break. The Moroccan shot the ball beautifully in the far corner behind the hopeless goalkeeper.
Babel, who has played for the Turkish top club since this summer, played the entire game. Ryan Donk came in for injury time.
Galatasaray won both the national title and the cup in Turkey last season. Akhisar, who finished last in the competition and relegated, was defeated in that final but was allowed to participate in the Super Cup as a runner-up.
With the win, Galatasaray also takes revenge for last year's lost Super Cup, when the two teams also played against each other. Akhisar was then the better one after penalties.
