Ajax's line-up for the away match against PAOK Saloniki has changed in one place compared to Sunday's Vitesse match. Noussair Mazraoui is kicking off in Greece on Tuesday.
The choice of coach Erik ten Hag means that summer-time gain Razvan Marin has a spare role in the first game in the third Champions League preliminary round. Mazraoui usually played as right back last season, but is now midfielder.
Ten Hag also maintains the same formation as Vitesse, which means that the vanguard is again formed by Hakim Ziyech, Kasper Dolberg and Dusan Tadic. David Neres and Quincy Promes are sitting on the couch again.
As announced, Donny van de Beek is also 'just' in the base at Ajax. The midfielder has traveled to Thessaloniki despite the emphatic interest of Real Madrid.
PAOK with Biseswar
With Diego Biseswar, Ajax meets a Dutchman on Tuesday evening. The left winger, who played for Feyenoord for years and also played for Heracles Almelo and De Graafschap, has a base place at PAOK.
PAOK-Ajax starts at 7 p.m. The Slovenian Slavko Vincic is the referee in the Toumbastadion. The return at the Johan Cruijff ArenA is in a week, when the kick-off is at 8.30 p.m.
If Ajax qualifies for the play-offs, then APOEL Nicosia or Qarabag is the opponent in the battle for a place in the main tournament of the Champions League.
PAOK setup: Paschalakis; Matos, Varela, Crespo, Giannoulis; Jaba, El Kaddouri, Esiti, Biseswar; Pelkas, Akpom.
Ajax setup: Onana; Veltman, Schuurs, Martínez, Tagliafico; Mazraoui, Van de Beek, Blind; Ziyech, Dolberg, Tadic.
