Lionel Messi suffered a calf injury on Monday at FC Barcelona training. The Argentinian will therefore not travel to the United States for the training camp with the rest of the selection.
Messi was only on the Barcelona training field for the first time on Monday in the run-up to the new season. The star player of the Catalans decided to stop the training because of pain in his right leg and investigations showed that he has a calf injury.
It is not known how long Messi will be out of circulation. Barcelona is leaving for the United States this week, where trainer Ernesto Valverde's team plays a friendly match against Napoli on Thursday and Saturday.
The 32-year-old Messi enjoyed a holiday in the last weeks after he participated in the Copa América with Argentina this summer. 'La Albiceleste' was eliminated in the semi-finals, but finished third due to a victory over Chile in the consolation final.
