The traditional top three has for the first time in 31 years lost points in the opening match in the Eredivisie.
National champion Ajax started the new season on Saturday with a 2-2 tie at Vitesse. PSV then lost two points at FC Twente (1-1), after which Feyenoord also failed to win on Sunday. Against Sparta Rotterdam it became 2-2.
It was the last time in the 1988/89 season that the traditional top three did not win in the first game of the season.
Feyenoord and PSV played against each other at the time. The game in De Kuip ended in 2-2. Ajax even went down 2-1 against Fortuna Sittard.

Ajax and Feyenoord also started false last year
Ajax and Feyenoord also lost points during the first round of play last year. Feyenoord lost 2-0 to De Graafschap, while Ajax drew 1-1 against Heracles Almelo.
PSV managed to win at that time, with no less than 4-0 from FC Utrecht. The twelve matches that followed also became a prey for the team of coach Mark van Bommel.
The Eindhoven players play ADO Den Haag at home in the second round on Sunday, while Feyenoord visits sc Heerenveen that day. Ajax plays at home against FC Emmen the day before.
