The draw drew Saudi Arabia, Palestine and Yemen into one group in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Qatar and the 2023 Asia Cup in China.

Former Australia captain Tim Cahill pulled out the draw at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur with 40 teams to look for five World Cup qualifiers as well as host Qatar.

Saudi Arabia - the only Arab Asia representative in the 2018 World Cup - will play Group D alongside Palestine and Yemen as well as Uzbekistan and Singapore.

Qatar, the Asian Cup winners earlier this year, will play in a group with Oman, India, Afghanistan and Bangladesh in search of qualification for the continental championship to defend their title, while ensuring the World Cup.

The second group included Jordan and Kuwait, along with Australia, Taiwan and Nepal. Iraq and Bahrain were in Group C alongside Iran, Hong Kong and Cambodia.

The UAE drew Group G with neighboring teams Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Syria will play Group A alongside China, the Philippines, the Maldives and Guam, while Lebanon will be in Group H alongside South Korea, North Korea, Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka.

Round-table tournaments will take place between September 5, 2019 and June 9, 2020.

The top eight teams, as well as the top four teams in the second place, will qualify for the Asian Cup directly, as well as the final round of the World Cup qualifiers.

The top 24 teams will play in the qualifying round to complete the rest of the Asian Cup, which will be held for the second time with the participation of 24 teams.
