Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has won Wimbledon's tennis tournament for the first time with a final win over Serena Williams. One year after Angelique Kerber's final victory against US-American Williams, the 27-year-old prevailed in London with 6: 2, 6: 2.

Halep's triumph at Wimbledon marks her only second Grand Slam victory in her career. In 2018, the Romanian had triumphed at the French Open in Paris. Williams, on the other hand, has again missed out on her 24th Grand Slam title, ending the all-time record of Australian Margaret Court.
