FC Barcelona simply presented Antoine Griezmann to the press and public on Saturday. The Catalans took over the French attacker from Atlético Madrid on Friday, but his old employer does not agree with the amount that Barcelona pays.
Barcelona met the departure clause in the Griezmann contract by transferring 120 million euros to Atlético. However, according to the Madrid population, the club has to pay 200 million euros. That amount was in the Frenchman's contract until 1 July.
The club champion seems deaf to Atlético's complaining and presented Griezmann on Saturday. Movies and photos show the 28-year-old attacker in the club's shirt while holding up a ball.
Sevan Karian, Griezmann's lawyer, lashed out at Atlético in the French newspaper L'Equipe earlier on Saturday. According to the lawyer, the club management has brought out other matters than those that were previously discussed privately with him and Griezmann.
"We will do whatever it takes to counter Atlético's threats," said Karian, who added that his client was extremely disappointed by the way things were going. "He wants to add a new chapter to his career and use this weekend to get to know his new club."
Given the attitude of FC Barcelona, there seems to be nothing else in it for Atlético Madrid than going to court.
