VVV-Venlo has strengthened itself on Friday with Haji Wright. The 21-year-old attacker is already the eighth asset to the new trainer Robert Maaskant. RKC Waalwijk presented defender Hannes Delcroix as an asset to the new season.
Wright signs a contract for one season with an option for a second year in Venlo. The 1.93 meter long attacker comes as a youth international for the United States.
"Years ago I set my sights on a successful career in Europe. After a few seasons in Germany I now hope to be important for VVV-Venlo," says Wright on the site of his new club.
The American came to Schalke 04 in 2016, for which he played seven games in the Bundesliga and scored once. The former player of New York Cosmos was also let by the Germans for a season to SV Sandhausen in the Second Bundesliga.
Wright looks forward to playing in the Eredivisie. "With my goals and with my drive, I want to make myself known for the team. The conversations with the people from this club gave me the right feeling to make this transition."
Wright is already the eighth addition to the VVV this summer. Technical manager Stan Valckx of VVV expects that he has won a direct reinforcement with Wright. "Haji is an excellent player who will give our vanguard even more body. He has speed, duel power and is very focused."
Valckx: “Haji is an excellent player who will give our vanguard even more body. Speed, duel power and very focused. We are happy and grateful that we came out with Schalke and that this player has chosen our club. "" #WelkomHajiAvatar
RKC leases Delcroix from Anderlecht
RKC also moved on the transfer market on Friday. The PhD student took over Delcroix from Anderlecht on a rental basis.
The 20-year-old defender has played for various youth teams in Belgium and also holds a Haitian passport. For the time being, he did not go further than one substitute in the first team of Anderlecht. The talent also played in a duel in the Europa League against Dinamo Zagreb.
"Hannes is a very talented left central defender who is good at the ball," said general manager Frank van Mosselveld. "In addition, he is physically strong and good at personal duels."
Allegedly SC Heerenveen was also interested in the defender. "There was a lot of interest in Hannes, but he is convinced that our club fits best with his development," says Van Mosselveld.
VVV and RKC play against each other in the first round of the Eredivisie. The game in De Koel will be played on 3 August.
