“The IOC takes note of the CAS decision, which deals exclusively with the formal issue of the IOC’s sanctioning power in relation to persons not involved in the Olympic movement,” the TASS press service quotes.

At the same time, the message states that the IOC reserves the right to make any decision regarding specific Olympics.

Mutko received from the International Olympic Committee a lifetime ban on visiting the Olympic Games on December 5, 2017. At the same time, the IOC commission did not find evidence of Mutko’s direct participation in the machinations of doping at the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi.

Subsequently, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia filed an appeal to the CAS.

Earlier, CAS granted Mutko’s appeal to a life imprisonment from the OI.
