The Orange women compete against Japan due to the group win at the World Cup in the eighth finals. Four years ago, that country was still responsible for the elimination of Orange.
The team of national coach Sarina Wiegman secured Thursday thanks to a 2-1 win over Canada of the victory in group E. Anouk Dekker and Lineth Beerensteyn scored for the Orange Women.
Japan finished second in group D, after losing 2-0 to England. The game between the Orange and Japan will be played on Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Rennes.
Four years ago, Japan won in Canada in the eighth finals 2-1 against the Netherlands, but the current team is not very similar to the team currently playing in France.
Japan lost the World Cup final four years ago, while in 2011 it was still the world champion. However, the team is currently mainly building towards the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.
In the group duels with Argentina (0-0) and Scotland (2-1), Japan did not make much impression, but with four points from two duels, the country was already certain of a place in the eighth finals.
