Diego Simeone has apologized for the way he cheered after the 1-0 Wednesday in the Champions League game against Juventus (2-0). The Atlético Madrid coach took hold of the opening goal of Raúl Jiménez to his cross.

"It was not a gesture to Juventus, but towards our own fans", said Simeone after the victory in Madrid against Italian media. He understands that his gesture is not appreciated by everyone, but he does not regret it.

"It was not nice, I admit, apologies to the people who are offensive, but it came from my heart, I had to do this."

It was not the first time that Simeone applauded by grabbing his precious parts. As a Lazio player, he made a similar obscene gesture at the beginning of this century and the Argentinian has a clear message.

"We have fought hard against Juventus for this win, Diego Costa played, for example, while he is not quite fit, and I wanted to show my team that I have balls."

"It's a good result, but Juventus has a great team, we have a big club in Turin and a big champion, and if we want to move forward, we'll have to suffer pain in the return."
