The next meeting in the case of the Kokorin brothers, Pavel Mamaev and Alexander Protasovitsky began with a delay. Judge Elena Abramova on April 23 was to begin the debate on the case of Colonel Dmitry Zakharchenko. However, he left the hall 10 minutes after the start of the hearing - the judge rescheduled the meeting on May 15.

“Kokorin and Mamayev are in priority, corruption can wait,” commented one of the lawyers representing Zakharchenko.

At the same time, the defenders of the players themselves did not rule out the possibility that before the aforementioned time limit, the judge Abramov would have time not only to hear both sides, but also to make a final verdict.

“Transferred to May 15? At this point, we can all have ended. In any case, the law does not prohibit the judge to simultaneously engage in two cases. The debates of the parties can take place in parallel, ”Vyacheslav Barik, Kokorin Junior’s lawyer, explained to journalists.

The meeting began with a speech by the prosecutor. State prosecutor Svetlana Tarasova admitted that she had already interviewed all the witnesses who might have been of interest to the prosecution. The only exceptions were the two girls from the company of football players, who, according to Tarasova, did not get in touch and did not appear in court. Thus, the state prosecutor completed the presentation of evidence and made it possible for the defense to begin to do this.

Considering the forthcoming interrogations of the defendants themselves, the lawyers appealed to the judge with a request to begin presenting written evidence, and said that one of the witnesses was ready to testify via video link.

“I talked to Shinkareva. She reported that the investigator had contacted her the other day. In a conversation with him, she expressed her willingness to be interrogated via video link. It was a day and a half ago, but the investigator did not contact her after that. But we must take into account the difference in time. If we start on Thursday at 12, then we will succeed, ”Barik told the court.

The presentation of the defense arguments was begun by the lawyer of the senior Kokorin Andrei Romashov. The lawyer read out papers with written instructions from investigators conducting the investigation and pointed out a number of procedural violations.

“Not only was the investigation team made up of the entire department - it’s
18 people, so they illegally carried out orders from the staff of the criminal investigation, "said Romashov.

After that, the lawyer proceeded to read the documents from Zenit, in particular, from the doctor and the sports psychologist of the club. Thus, the judge was reminded that finding Alexander behind bars calls into question his future sports career.

“The inability to properly restore the knee joint can lead to the progression of osteoarthritis of the knee joint, followed by disability,” Romashov announced the verdict of the St. Petersburg club physicians.

The team psychologist, in turn, analyzed Kokorin Sr.'s behavioral model and expressed the opinion that attacks of football player aggression could be associated with stress in the face of severe knee injury and lack of days off.

“The player is distinguished by heightened sensitivity of the nervous system and the ability to emotionally give all the best for a limited amount of time, after which there may be a drop in emotional state and loss of self-control. For several months, he was in a state of chronic stress associated with the need to recover from an injury that threatened his sports career and forced him to miss the World Cup.

Against this background, the player was also subjected to excitement before the match, exhaustion after an away match, sleep disturbance and a sports regime. The above circumstances could contribute to a decrease in psychological stability and self-government, which caused an attack of aggression, ”the official letter from the team psychologist says.

After explaining the medical nuances Romashov began to draw up a psychological portrait of his client. The lawyer read a testimonial from the club, and also told about Kokorin’s charitable activities. The colleague was supported by the second lawyer of the Zenit attacker Tatyana Stukalova. “Today we paid the court’s attention to the fact that the whole case was investigated from a legal point of view, contrary to the law. 18 investigators gave instructions to 10 operatives. This is lawlessness! It was also possible to give such instructions to the village of my grandfather, ”said Romashov.

His colleague Stukalova explained that by presenting all the evidence, the defense intends to refute the charges in preliminary agreement.

“In our opinion, from the very beginning there could not be a heavy qualification. We want to prove that all the actions of our clients were spontaneous. We will uphold the truth. The evidence we have suggests that there was no hooliganism, ”the lawyer said.

Wednesday, April 24, the defendants will spend in jail. The defendants will be visited by lawyers and relatives. In addition, representatives of the medical headquarters of Zenit will be allowed to see Alexander Kokorin.

On Thursday, hearings will resume. Prosecutor Tarasova will begin the interrogation of the defendants.
