"Muscle atrophy may occur": the head doctor of "Zenith" examined Kokorin's knee in the SIZO

During the break between the hearings, the chief doctor of Zenit St. Petersburg, Mikhail Grishin, arrived at the Butyrka SIZO for an examination of the attacking team, Alexander Kokorin. This visit by lawyers, as well as representatives of the Public Observation Commission (POC), was sought for several months, but the investigation only granted the request of the defense.

The procedure took place in the medical unit of the detention facility. The specialist was satisfied with the conditions provided, however, the situation with the injured knee of a football player caused him serious concern.

At the same time, a bit later, in Zenit they stated that they insist on a more thorough examination of their player “in order to establish an accurate diagnosis.”

“At the meeting with Kokorin, the head physician of the team was able to conduct only functional tests. However, even a preliminary examination revealed a negative trend, the situation is getting worse all the time. Therefore, in addition to our recommendations to provide Alexander with the opportunity to conduct daily functional classes in the hall and pool, we consider it expedient to conduct a more in-depth study using MRI, this is necessary to establish an accurate diagnosis of the condition of the internal tissues of the knee joint and further adjust the rehabilitation program, ”Sport24 words of club spokesman Anton Makarenko.

In March 2018, Kokorin received a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of his knee in the 1/8 European League final match with the German Leipzig. He was successfully operated on and began training in August. However, due to the arrest, the attacker was unable to complete a full-fledged rehabilitation course, due to which an injury aggravated in January.

The request for the admission of specialists was sent back in early March. It was reported that the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) gave permission for an inspection, but then the visit was postponed. At the same time, the investigators insisted that the player himself was to blame for the situation.

The defense side, as well as the player himself, have repeatedly expressed discontent with what is happening.

Following the visit, Grishin appointed a set of physical exercises aimed at maintaining leg muscles in good shape. He recommended increasing the number of visits to the gym, however, some classes are available to Alexander in the limited space of the prison cell.

“If it goes on like this, it will be almost impossible for Kokorin to return to the ranks. As for the legs, the doctor of “Zenith” appointed a number of physiotherapeutic procedures. The problem is that we carried out a part of them before and canceled only after the statements were made that they “burned” Kokorin’s leg ”, they explained in the SIZO.

Recall that in early March, lawyer Andrei Romashov reported that during the electrophoresis procedure, his client received a serious burn of the skin and muscle tissue. As a result, suppuration formed at the injury site, which caused the attacker additional inconvenience. The procedure was carried out by doctors "Butyrki".

The results of the physical examination was summed up by a member of the POC, Dmitry Chugunov. He stressed that since the last survey negative dynamics can be traced, but an accurate diagnosis can be made only after an MRI.

It is reported that Kokorin was pleased with the doctor's visit, as he now received official confirmation of his diagnosis.

In addition, the football player complained about the long journeys from the detention facility to the Presnensky District Court building, where hearings are being held. Each trip lasts six to seven hours, which adversely affects the health of the accused. However, PMC noted that there is no other way to deliver the defendants.

“They are raised early in the morning, sent to the pre-trial detention center, then the paddy wagon travels to different detention centers and collects prisoners. And then delivers to different ships. In the evening, the procedure lasting many hours is repeated, ”explained Boris Klin, a member of the public organization.

Despite the state of health and the position of Kokorin, Zenit continues to hope for his return. The team's midfielder Claudio Marchisio called him “one of the main talents of Russia,” and said that the team is concerned about the fate of the football player.

“Any athlete should be a good example not only for colleagues, but also for the entire younger generation, for children. Therefore, what happened is bad. It seems to me that he made a mistake and should be punished accordingly. And I think it has already happened. We discussed all this with teammates and with the coaching staff. We are really looking forward to it, ”said Marchisio in an interview with the Petersburg Diary.

The 11th in a row hearing on the case of the Kokorin brothers, Pavel Mamayev and Alexander Protasovitsky will be held on Thursday, April 25.
