In Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, on the 18th, junior high school students called on citizens to donate after a large earthquake occurred in southern Turkey.

More than 43,000 people have died in Turkey and Syria in a large earthquake near the Syrian border in southern Turkey on the 6th of this month.

In response to this situation, in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, which was the host town of Turkey for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games two years ago, all public elementary and junior high schools in the city will conduct fundraising activities. Four members of the student council called for donations from citizens in front of JR Moriyama Station.

When the students called out, "Thank you for your cooperation with the Turkish earthquake relief fund," station users and others responded to the donation while encouraging the students.

A student who participated in the activity said, "We started thinking that there was something we could do. I heard that it's cold in the affected areas right now, so I hope the donations will be useful for things like blankets and hot meals." .

Another student said, "I am very sad that children of my age were killed. I hope that the donations will be used to save lives."

The donation will be delivered to the Turkish Consulate General in Nagoya and will be used to support the affected people and the local reconstruction.
