At 10:38 am, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a heavy snow warning for the 23 wards of Tokyo and the Tama region.

It was the first time since January 6 last year that a heavy snow warning was issued for the 23 wards of Tokyo.

Warnings have been issued to all municipalities in the Tokyo region, and the Japan Meteorological Agency is calling for caution against heavy snow from early afternoon to late at night on the 10th.

Criteria for heavy snow warnings

The criteria for issuing heavy snow warnings vary depending on the characteristics of each region.

▽ The criteria for issuing a heavy snow warning for the "23 wards of Tokyo" are when the amount of snowfall is expected to be 10 centimeters or more in 12 hours.

▽The same applies to the "Southern Tama" area, which includes Hachioji City, Machida City, and Hino City, and the "Northern Tama Area," which includes Tachikawa City, Mitaka City, and Kokubunji City.

▽In western Tama, such as Akiruno City and Ome City, the amount of snowfall is 20 centimeters in 12 hours.

Traffic may be affected by heavy snow, so vigilance is required.
