In Niigata City, due to the effects of cold weather, water pipes have burst and water leaks one after another, and the water supply at the water purification plant is decreasing. About 25,600 households, including some, will have their water supply restricted, and the water supply will be cut off at night.

The water supply will be cut off in Niigata City's Chuo Ward, Nishi Ward, Akiha Ward, and Nishikan Ward, as well as parts of Tagami Town, which receives water from the city's water purification plant. From time to 6 am on the 29th.

In Niigata City, at least 1,700 cases of bursting or freezing of water pipes have been reported since the 24th of this month due to cold weather.

Due to the leakage of water from the water pipe, the amount of water supplied has increased about 3 to 4 times the usual amount, and the water at the water purification plant is decreasing.

In order to continue to supply water stably in the future, the city will limit the water supply at night and cut off the water supply.

If the severe cold continues, it means that there is a possibility that water supply will be restricted in another area.

At a press conference, Isao Hokari, technical director of the Niigata City Waterworks Bureau, said, "I want you to check for leaks in outdoor waterworks and other facilities and cooperate in saving water as much as possible."
