Two days have passed since about 10 buildings collapsed in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture.

Searches by police and fire departments have continued through the night, mainly near the residence of the elderly couple whose safety is unknown, but the two have not been found yet.

In the early hours of December 31 in Nishime, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, a hill behind houses and vacant houses collapsed from 20 to 30 meters high and 100 meters wide, and about 10 buildings were involved and collapsed.



Due to this landslide, the safety of a man in his 80s and his wife in her 70s is unknown, and about 200 police, firefighters, and the Self-Defense Forces have been searching all night, mainly near the house where the couple live. It continues, but it's been two days since the outbreak and still hasn't been found.



Police and fire departments are rushing to search, but according to the Meteorological Observatory, the Shonai region, including Tsuruoka City, is expected to have 30 centimeters of snow in the 24-hour period until the morning of the 3rd. Therefore, it is expected that the search will continue in a harsh environment.
