Mount Bandai in Fukushima Prefecture saw an increase in volcanic earthquakes from the 27th to the 28th, and the number of observations in a single day reached a record high.

The Japan Meteorological Observatory announced temporary commentary information on the night of the 28th, saying that volcanic activity may be increasing, and is calling for attention to future information.

According to the Sendai District Meteorological Observatory, volcanic earthquakes increased in the vicinity of approximately 2 km northwest of the summit from around noon on the 27th, and a total of 636 tremors were observed by 6:00 pm on the 28th.

The number of observations in a day is the highest since 1998, when observations started under the current standards, and the Japan Meteorological Observatory says that it is "unprecedented seismic activity."

Volcanic tremors, which are said to indicate the movement of underground magma, were not observed, and there was no change in the temperature of the ground or surface, nor in the fumaroles. I assume there is.

For this reason, the Japan Meteorological Observatory announced temporary commentary information after 6:00 pm on the 28th.

In the future, if volcanic tremors increase, the eruption alert level may be raised from "1", which indicates "pay attention to the fact that it is an active volcano", to "2", which indicates "regulations around the crater". We invite you to pay attention to future information.
