On the morning of the 21st, a man in his 80s was found buried in snow on the premises of a house in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture, and was later confirmed dead.

The police are investigating the detailed situation assuming that it was caught in the snow that fell from the roof.

According to the police, around 7:30 am on the 21st, the fire department was notified that a man in his 80s living in this house was buried in snow under the eaves on the premises of a house in Kamikawa, Chokai-cho, Yurihonjo City.



When the police and fire department rushed, the man was unconscious and was transported to a hospital in the city, but he was confirmed dead about an hour and a half later.



According to police, the man's wife, who was at home, heard the sound of falling snow from the roof, so she checked outside and found the man buried in snow.



For this reason, the police believe that the man was caught in the snow that fell from the roof and are investigating the details.



According to Akita Prefecture, on the 19th, a man who was removing snow from a roof in Higashinaruse village was found dead after falling.



The prefecture is taking safety measures such as having two or more people perform snow removal work, and is calling on people to stay away from under the eaves, as snow that has accumulated on the roof may fall.
