It has been 30 days and one week since the record heavy rain fell in Shizuoka Prefecture due to the approach of Typhoon No. 15.

Only about half of the water outages that occurred in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, have been restored to over 60,000 homes, and there are areas where schools and shops cannot reopen, and how to rebuild lives is an issue.

Due to the approach of Typhoon No. 15, a linear rain belt occurred in Shizuoka Prefecture from the night of the 23rd one week ago to the next day, and the amount of rain that fell in 12 hours reached 404.5 mm in Shizuoka City. It was the highest number in the history of observation.

Due to this heavy rain, two people died in Kakegawa City and Fukuroi City, and one person is still missing in Kawanehon Town.

In addition, 66 houses were completely or partially destroyed, and 5,393 houses were flooded, causing extensive damage.

As of March 29, only about half of the large-scale water outage that occurred in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, had been restored, with more than 9,000 households still without water, and approximately 25,000 households with drinking water. It continues to be absent.

In addition, disaster waste such as debris and submerged furniture accumulates in piles in parks and roadsides that serve as collection sites, and in some districts collection is not keeping up.

For this reason, there are areas where cleaning up is not progressing and schools and shops cannot be reopened, and how to proceed with life reconstruction is an issue.
