According to the USGS = American Geological Survey, there was an earthquake centered in Papua New Guinea around 8:46 am Japan time.



The depth of the epicenter is estimated to be 61 kilometers, and the magnitude, which indicates the scale of the earthquake, is estimated to be 7.6.



NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) said the earthquake could trigger tsunamis off the coasts of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.
