The Ministry of the Environment and pet-related companies are calling attention to be aware of heat stroke in pets such as dogs and cats as the heat continues to be severe.

According to veterinarians, it is difficult for dogs and cats to regulate their body temperature by sweating, so they may suffer from heat stroke and have the same symptoms as humans, and in the worst case, they may die.

According to Anicom Insurance, a major pet insurance company, there were 880 dogs and 138 cats in the last year when they were diagnosed with heat stroke at a veterinary hospital and were treated. It means that the matter was raised.

According to a survey conducted last summer by the company for owners who have had heat stroke in dogs and cats, 49% of them were outdoors and 43% were at home.

For this reason, after an outdoor walk or dog run, we encourage people to drink plenty of water, create shade indoors, and control the temperature with an air conditioner.

The Ministry of the Environment also warns against leaving pets in the car, especially on hot days.
