According to a contact from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii to the Japan Meteorological Agency, there was an earthquake with an epicenter southeast of New Caledonia in the South Pacific at around 2:44 pm on the 31st of Japan time.



The magnitude is estimated to be 7.2.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, this earthquake may cause a tsunami near the epicenter, but it has no effect on Japan.



A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck southeast of New Caledonia as early as the morning of the 31st.
