According to the Police Agency, 9544 people died in Miyagi prefecture, 4675 people in Iwate prefecture, 1614 people in Fukushima prefecture, 24 people in Ibaraki prefecture, 21 people in Chiba prefecture, and 7 people in Tokyo. There are a total of 15,900 people, 4 in Kanagawa and 4 in Tochigi, 3 in Aomori, 2 in Yamagata, and 1 in Hokkaido and Gunma.



99.7% of those who died have been identified, but 53 are still unknown.



The number of missing persons is 1213 in Miyagi prefecture, 1110 in Iwate prefecture, 196 in Fukushima prefecture, 2 in Chiba prefecture, and 1 in Aomori and Ibaraki prefectures, for a total of 2523.
