強い冬型の気圧配置の影響で日本海側を中心に雪が強まり、6日朝までの24時間に80センチ以上の雪が降ったところもあります。
例年、雪の多い地域でも除雪が難しい積雪になるおそれがあり、気象庁は、交通への影響に警戒するとともに、落雪や雪崩などにも十分注意するよう呼びかけています。
気象庁によりますと、強い冬型の気圧配置と上空の寒気の影響で、北海道から中国地方にかけての日本海側を中心に雪が降り、北陸や新潟県、滋賀県などで特に強まっています。
午前9時までの3時間に降った雪の量は
▽北海道の恵庭市下島松で16センチ
▽岐阜県関ケ原町で12センチ
▽滋賀県米原市で10センチ
▽鳥取市で6センチなどとなっています。
6日朝までの24時間の降雪量は新潟や長野で80センチ以上に達しているところもあります。
午前9時の積雪は
▽新潟県津南町で3メートル42センチ
▽長野県野沢温泉村で2メートル62センチに達しているほか
▽札幌市では1メートル8センチと
1メートルを超えたのは8年前の2014年3月以来です。

▽滋賀県米原市で73センチ
▽富山市で43センチ
▽福井市で23センチとなっているほか、
東海の平地にも雪雲は流れ込み
▽岐阜市で15センチ
▽名古屋市で1センチとなっています。
今後の雪の見通し

65 cm in Niigata prefecture
, 60 cm in Nagano and Gifu prefectures, and 50 cm in Hokuriku.
Snow cover is expected to increase even on flat ground such as Tokai.
The Japan Meteorological Agency is wary of the impact of heavy snowfall on traffic, and is calling for careful attention to snowfall from roofs, power outages due to snow accretion on electric wires and trees, and avalanches.
On the Sea of Japan side, the amount of snow has reached more than twice the normal amount, and there is a risk that it will be difficult to remove snow even in Niigata prefecture, where there is a lot of snow every year.
In areas with heavy snow, keep away from the eaves of buildings and slopes of mountains, and be careful about accidents during snow removal work.
