In Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, where the river was flooded by this heavy rain, some people evacuated to the second floor of the building.

In Miyoshi City, the river Gonokawa that flows through the city was flooded, causing damage to houses and stores in the basin.

Mika Moriguchi (53) usually lives in Hiroshima City, but returned to her parents'house from last week because she thought that her parents' house in Miyoshi City, where her elderly parents live, could be flooded.

On the 13th, water entered a few centimeters above the floor, so I evacuated vertically to the second floor with my parents.

I thought it would be difficult to evacuate with my elderly parents to a shelter about 2 kilometers away from my parents' house in heavy rain.

We brought futons, food, and a toilet on the second floor so that we could live for several days.

This is because I had the experience of being unable to live for several days because the ground floor was flooded by about 20 cm during the heavy rains in western Japan three years ago.

Since it is expected to rain again in Hiroshima prefecture, Mr. Moriguchi will continue to evacuate vertically on the second floor with his parents for several days.

Mr. Moriguchi said, "I had experience three years ago, so I evacuated by raising everything I needed on the second floor early."
