After the Great East Japan Earthquake, the new school building was completed at an elementary school in Higashi Matsushima City, which was the only prefabricated temporary school building in Miyagi prefecture, and on the 8th, children entered the new semester with brand new learning.

The new school building was completed at Naruse Sakuraka Elementary School in Higashi Matsushima City.

This elementary school was opened by integrating the school whose school building was damaged by the earthquake with another school, and so far, we have been the only prefabricated temporary school building in Miyagi prefecture to hold some classes such as drawing.

The new school building, which was completed on a hill 9.5 meters above sea level, is a three-story reinforced concrete building that can be used as a shelter in the area in the event of a disaster.

At the opening ceremony held in the auditorium, Principal Hiroshi Wakayama said, "I am happy to start the new semester in the shiny school building. Let's do our best to study and exercise."

Then, the inauguration ceremony was held with the participation of local residents, and the 6th grade boy, who was the representative of the children, said, "The long-awaited new school building has finally been completed, so I want to make a lot of memories."

After this, the children visited the brand new school building with the teachers and then entered their respective classrooms.

Due to the earthquake, 23 public elementary, junior high and high schools were temporarily conducting classes in prefabricated temporary school buildings in Miyagi prefecture, but 10 years after the earthquake, all prefabricated temporary school buildings have been eliminated.
